We are Generation Space. Are you?
SUBMIT YOUR STORY, MEMORY, OR DREAM.
The two of us never knew a world without space flight. We were born shortly before the Moon landing and were in high school when Shuttle first took flight, twenty years to the day after Yuri Gargarin became the first human in space. We were in college when Challenger broke apart in 1986, and many grade school and high school students watched that event on television, too. We grew up thinking travel to Mars was not far off in the future. When we talk about all this, people often say, I am Generation Space too!
Those of us born between Sputnik in 1957 and the first space shuttle mission in 1981 are Generation Space. Generation Space is indebted to those who came before, innovators who learned how to orbit Earth. We leave a legacy and potential to Generation Mars as well.
If YOU have a memory or a dream related to the living in the Space Age, we want to share your story. Use the form below to submit a post (300 words max) to the I Am Generation Space blog. Let’s document the Space Age in our own words!
